OPERATIONS MANUAL
BEFORE THE FIRST USE
For best results, follow these steps before using your TurboFry® Air Fryer for the first time.
- Remove all packaging materials such as plastic bags and foam inserts.
- Read and remove all labels from the unit except the label on the bottom which must remain on the unit.
- Check that all parts and accessories are included.
- Clean the interior and exterior with a damp cloth.
- Wash the basket and basket frame in warm soapy water. Dry completely.
NOTE: When using the device for the first time, there may be a slight odor, which is normal and will dissipate over time.
HOW TO COOK IN THE TURBOFRY® AIR FRYER
The hot air fryer's high-speed fan cooks your favorite foods quickly. The grill in the basket allows air to circulate around the food, allowing it to cook evenly and crispy, and allowing excess fat to drain off the food for healthier eating.
CAUTION: Never fill the basket with oil. Unlike deep fryers, air fryers require little or no oil to create a crispy texture. If you choose to use oil, mix the food just a little in a separate bowl before cooking it in the deep fryer.
- Prepare the food you want to fry.
- Place the fryer on a hard, flat surface and plug it in. The control panel lights up and the preset temperature and time alternately appear on the display.
- take out the basket. Place the grid in the basket and align the arrow on the grid with the arrow on the inside of the basket. (To make the basket frame easier to handle, squeeze the center bar of the handle between your thumb and forefinger.)
WARNING:Never spray the basket or grill with cooking oil from an aerosol can that contains sharp ingredients that could damage the non-stick coating. However, you can grease the pan or spray it with oil from a non-aerosol spray. - Place the food on the frying rack. Make sure food does not exceed the MAX line marked on the basket.
- Slide the basket into the fryer.
- Set the time and temperature as desired or use the preset cooking parameters. To set the temperature, press TEMP and rotate the dial to add or subtract five degrees at a time. To set the time (up to 1 hour), press TIME and rotate the dial to add or subtract time in 1-minute increments. When cooking with predefined cooking parameters: select the symbol that best suits your food and touch the symbol. This will set the preset time and temperature (see CHART on page 9 for more details).
- Press start. The fan turns on and animated dashes appear on the control panel to indicate that the device is warming up. NOTE: During cooking, you can remove the basket to inspect, turn or shake the food. When you place the basket back in the unit, the timer and heating will resume where they left off.
- During cooking, the shake light on the control panel will illuminate and the fryer will beep as a reminder to shake (or flip) food as needed. (See function table on page 9 for additional times.) Stir light will immediately turn off if basket is removed and will automatically turn off after approximately 15 seconds if basket is not removed. (If your food doesn't need to be stirred, turned, or flipped, simply ignore the warning.)
- When the time is up, the fryer will automatically shut off. Remove basket from air fryer. Check that the food is done, carefully transfer it to plates or a platter and serve. NOTE: When using the device for the first time, there may be a slight odor, which is normal and will dissipate over time.
KITCHEN TIPS FOR AIR FRYER
- Preheat the fryer for 5 minutes before cooking. Although not necessary, preheating the appliance will cook food faster and give crispy results. If the appliance is cold, add a few minutes to the expected cooking time. CAUTION: Be careful when adding food after preheating as the inside of the fryer will be hot.
- Lightly oil for a crispy exterior. Some foods, especially when fresh, benefit from being tossed in a separate bowl with a little oil before frying. However, foods high in fat, such as a well-marbled steak or ready-to-eat meals, generally do not need additional oil.
- Avoid wet crowds. Loose dough, such as that used for frying, will not work in air fryers, as the dough will simply slide off. Adapt these recipes to give foods a thicker coating, preferably with breadcrumbs to help the coating adhere.
- Use medium to high heat for most cooking methods. Most foods are best fried between 325°F and 400°F. For gentler cooking and reheating, use a lower temperature to avoid overcooking.
- Do not overload the basket. Many foods, especially those packed tightly together, can affect browning and crispness. A better choice: fry foods in batches.
- Shake the basket during cooking for even cooking. A good shake is especially beneficial for smaller dishes like French fries, onion rings and chicken wings. For larger or more fragile foods, consider gently turning or tossing for even results.
- Check the food in advance. Check foods before cooking time; You can always push the basket back to continue cooking.
- Follow food safety guidelines when cooking. As frying temperatures and food sizes can vary, do not rely solely on recipe times to cook food. Before serving, check that food has been prepared in accordance with applicable safety guidelines. 12
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT TROUBLESHOOTING
Why is white smoke coming out of my device?
White smoke could be a sign that there is too much fat in the fryer. Avoid cooking very greasy foods, such as hot dogs, in the fryer and make sure the basket, grate and heating coil are clean before cooking.
Why is my food cooked unevenly?
Two likely reasons are overcrowding and lack of buzz. Fill the basket lightly with food to allow air to circulate and stir the food at least once during cooking for more even results.
Why is my food not crispy?
Although you can fry without adding oil, foods with oil easily (usually just ½ tsp per batch for most recipes) help achieve crispy results. Preheating the fryer also helps.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
The nonstick coating on the basket and grate makes the air fryer easy to clean by following the steps below.
- Before cleaning, unplug the power cord and allow it to cool completely. (For faster cooling, leave the hot basket outside the unit.)
- To remove the cooled grate from the basket, use tweezers to press down on the center support bar and pull the grate up and out of the basket. (Only use your fingers when you are sure that the grid and basket are completely cool, otherwise injuries could occur.)
- Wash basket and frame in warm soapy water, rinse and towel dry for best results. The basket and shelf are dishwasher safe, even on the top shelf.
- If necessary, clean the outside and inside of the appliance, including the heating coil, with a damp cloth. Do not place the appliance in the dishwasher and do not immerse it in water or other liquids.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners on basket, frame, outside or inside as they may damage surfaces.
